Part 4 / Day 9 : Somport - Canfranc

All started off well. The way out of Somport was lovely, I got slightly lost once but had downloaded the trail tracks from Mapy.cz so used the GPS function to link up again. The French aunt and niece caight up with me before Canfranc Estacion and we walked together briefly. After having a look around the hotel and train station I headed out only to be challenged by a bridge over the Aragones now blocked, and a portion of the wall crumbled. I had to climb down the remaining wall about 8 feet--fortunately a group of 4 Spaniards and  Polish guy with some English helped me climb down. Really scary there for a moment. My donativo albergue in Canfranc Pueblo is 5*****

The people who helped me climb down. Two Spanish couples out walking for the day, and a Polish pilgrim walker.

The albergue in Canfranc Pueblo. It was named after Elías Valiña, an important figure in the revival of the Camino de Santiago in the late 20th century, who came up with the idea of marking the trail with with yellow arrows that are still used today.
