Today was another short day for Hiroko and me. We walked to the abandoned village of Ruesta where we had one final lunch with the Italians before they continued on to Undues de Lerda. That will be a difficult climb so I was in no mood to tack it on to today's walk. We had an absolutely perfect day, stopping by to examine what was left of the ruin of the Ermita San Juan Bautista, which flourished as monastery between the 10th and 12th centuries. We had seen a copy of what had once been the mural covering the apse of this chapel (behind the altar) displayed in the Cathedral's museum in Jaca. [Apparently the building one held a treasured collection of 12th century Romanesque painting in its apse, which were removed when the Yesa reservoir was built in 1959, which are now conserved in the Cathedral's museum,]
