Part 4 / Day 10 : Canfranc - Jaca

Today's walk started early (7:30am). I stayed with two guys from Ireland (pictured in front of a photo of Elías Valiña, the man who did the first modern waymarking of the Camino de Santiago in Spain). They walked ahead of me but we met up again later on for a few minutes after Villanua. The weather was lovely, and sunny, probably in the lower sixties, which was perfect. The landscape slowly became flatter and I passed through Castiello de Jaca, a lovely town, and headed for the good sized town of Jaca, where I visited the Cathedral and its museum.

The Cathedral of San Pedro de Jaca was built almost at the same time as that of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela (last quarter of the 11th century), to give a cathedral to the Kingdom of Aragon, of which Jaca was the capital from 1035 to 1096.

Waymarking overkill. Sometimes there is a lack of waymarking, and sometimes those doing the marking seem to want to outdo others that have marked it before,,,
